Its a Ford.. engine inplace.. no radiator... 16" wheels.... power train looks complete..no seats...steering wheel is on floor of cab...
was repainted army green years ago looks clean...
has the square hatch in the roof...wants to get rid of it...probably asking around $500 ...told him some one would have to look at it to see if it is worth that much....has not had any calls..yet

Default F15

Went to see Barney today. Quite a nice fellow, an ex-police officer actually who works now in his retirement at the police impound yard. Where to start? Negatives 1) no rear body 2) no pintle 3)tranfer case gone along with driveshafts 4)no rad 5) incorrect engine 1949-53 flathead 6)bumper mangled 7) gas tanks NFG 8)no seats 9)misc trinkets missing eg. hood hold downs, inner fenders etc. 10)roof hatch possibly added 11) rear window non original 12) missing fold out windshields etc. etc. etc.
Positives 1)super doors 2) cab condition o/a great. Front sheet metal is very nice, lower cab vg,upper cab rough but serviceable.3) frame straight and clean
It appears to me that this was someone's restoration project gone astray as the frame has been blasted and painted and the body looks like some work was done. It would be a good parts donor maybe, or a resto project although many pieces are obviously gone and would have to be found. Price started at $1200, am in negotiations at this time, this amount is not acceptable! What do you guys think?

Default F15

Missin accomplished, the Ford is now in my stable so to speak. I think it was a worthwhile rescue had at a decent price. Thanks Bob for the tip. Loading the old girl on the car trailer was a job in itself with 2 flat tires on the truck and no steering! She's found a good home.

Well done Chris! Always good to hear a CMP has found a good home. You've made a good choice, a 15-cwt is just about the right size and Ford is the better of the two CMP marques anyway. I'd be delighted if you could post some pictures of that truck of yours here sometime soon.

Regards,
Hanno

Default Ford Vs. Chev

Hey Hanno, what's the best way to start a Ford CMP?

With a Chev!!

Don, who has a Chev that runs, and a Ford that doesn't.

Yeah, yeah, I know: Fix Or Repair Daily. But pardon the smirk on my face when my Whispering Flathead passes by your Heaving Six.

C'mon now Pete, don't you play that "but Ford also makes tractors and Chevrolet doesn't" card with me. You know what I have up my sleeve...

I knew some Chev guys were going for this bait - jeesh, you really can't stand Sid Swallow was a Ford employee, now do you?

Default Sid Swallow

A few years back (10-12) I was working at Revenue Canada doing tax returns. Because of my superior intellect (ya, right!) I was assigned to the estate section, and about half way thru my 4 weeks there, a return just like ay other in the pile I did that day landed on my desk. It was Sid Swallow's estate return. At first it didn't click, but then I saw the references to GM pensions and savings etc, and I nearly hit the floor. I didn't bother telling anyone else, because they would have looked at me like I had two heads...."Who's Sid Swallow...." etc.

Imagine the odds-----his final return, post-mortem, lands on the desk of the ONE employee who would have known who he was......Weird.

Don
