Default Part Numbers

Having read another post regarding part numbers, here is a tip that I wish to share with everyone.
When you purchase civilian parts for your MV restoration from NAPA etc, always tear off the label, mark it to remind you what it is for and place in a ziploc bag or manilla envelope. Place this in a drawer in your toolbox.
I have been doing this for years and it is a great way to refer back to parts numbers that in many cases took a lot of time and trouble to find.
I know I drove my local parts guy nuts for years, having him research old school catalogs until we found the right parts.
Even if the part number is discontinued or replaced, having a brand with a number will give the supplier a place to start looking when they try to cross reference it.
