Log book holder

Evening all, I have had in my collection for some time a log book holder.

Would these have been fitted to all or just some vehicles?

(I'm assuming British / commonwealth vehicles)

Size is approximately 9 x 5.5 inches or in new money, about 23 x 14 cm
