Default 65th anniversary D-Day

Myself and my brother are planning a trip(beginning stages)and were wondering if anyone has been there and have any tips to make it easier for us to do.
We want to leave from England to do the cross channel trip(my uncle was with the North Novies as a Bren Gun driver and landed mid day June 6th).We want to experience the whole trip in the path he would have taken.
Places to stay, places to go etc etc etc. I realize this is a tall order, but I feel it is probably one of the bestter places to start asking!
Any help would be appreciated!
Cheers!

... I've been there 3times on D-Day. Have a look at the war cemeteries, Landing beaches Arromanches, Caen, Museum in Bayeux, St. Mere Eglise etc. There are a lot of museums and battle places to visit.

Sooner or later will be some French websites publised, where you can find all the organised events like wreath lyings, vehicle meetings, camps etc. Don't hurry ;-)

greetings
Chris

... yeah, pretty cool there. But expect a lot of tourists, closed roads, traffic jams etc. Most things like parades etc. happens before June 6, so the best thing is to be there at the end of May until 8th or 9th June. Book your B&B quite ahead, at least 6 months, probably more. Try Gites de France. I would stay in the Bayeux area. It's quite in the middle.

My pics from 1999 and 2004 .

Greetings
Chris

PS Where is Sylvan Lake? USA or Canada?

So, there's plenty to do a research on ;-) And it helps if you understand some French...

I'd stress the "probably more".

12 months would be good.
