Default M38A1 CDN2 Patent plate (behind pass. seat on wheelwell)

Is there anywhere that makes a M38A1 CDN2 patent plate (the one behind the passenger seat on the wheelwell) ?

If not, could forum members snap some pictures of their plates for me?

The US (Toledo, Ohio) plate looks like this as far as I know:

Thanks,
Rick

Rick To be honest I dont think the patten plate was on Canadian jeeps only the 4 holes were drilled or mabey that was only the m-38....all my years of playing with jeeps I have never seen one, only on Americian ones.

Default CDN2&3 serial plates

All CDN2 & 3 jeeps had a serial plate on the wheel well behind the passenger seat. I am not aware of any reproductions of this plate due to the difficulty of duplicating the raised texture of the print. The serial number matched the serial number on the dashboard plates (which are available for both the CDN2&3)
A reproduction wheel well plate from an American M38A1 would be the closest available substitute.
As an aside: A few 1952 Ford Canadian M38's had Willys bodies with "Jeep" script on the toolbox wall. But were these bodies drilled with 4 holes for a wheel well patent plate? Perhaps someone with one of these Jeep script bodies on an M38CDN can confirm.
....... Brian

Thanks for the replies so far, I'm interested in getting enough pictures to be able to produce a repro plate.

Cool Data plate photo

Hi Rick: The CDN2 plate is exactly the same as your photo. The only addition is the letter "C" which is stamped between 97521 and the border of the plate.

Both Brian and I are "challenged" in down loading pictures on the forum page but email me at rob.mor@shaw.ca and I'll forward you off the photo. Hope this helps.....Robert

Default Reproduction Plates on Ebay

I Just received mine for the CDN3 and it is the right size, the seller has had the one for the CDN2 but is out right now. The only thing is they are milled not stamped.

Reverse stamp number sets are readily available to be able to stamp the repro plate as shown. They are pricey but maybe if a few guys needed them done it would be worth investing in a set of stamps.

Default M38A1 CDN 2 Serial number plate

Hello

I have been in contact with the Data plate maker,(DATAPLATES4U)
this is what he says:

The style of plate you need has a raised serial number.
If I have to make such a plate it is a one-off plate.
This makes making such a plate more expensive then a stock plate.

The price for a one-off plate with your number raised is $135.00 US.

An other option is:
Also available is the same plate without a raised number. I have these plates in stock for $25.00 US, stamping your number (inward) is an additional $15.00 US.

He goes on to mention that this is an etching process. Which means the more orders we get the cheaper it can be as he can do more plates at the same time.

He does not have the reverse stamps.

The C at the end is stamped in.

Please let me know if there is any interest to get these done.

Thanks

Eric
