Wink Minnows are for fishing

Hi there

How often does it happen in sports. A long shot (Canada) knocks of a contender (Bangladesh) and suddenly people are talking a 'renaissance' for Canadian sport.

Then, a couple of days later, back down to earth with a thud .

Still, they say having the 'minnows' (Canada, Kenya, the Netherlands and Namibia) around does increase global interest in the sport.

Steve

Did you have 36 of them?

Here's a quote from our local newspaper:

"Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya admitted he had no choice but to order a ruthless destruction of Canada in order to boost his side's chances of reaching the next stage of the World Cup.

Sri Lanka showed no mercy to the Canadians, bowling them out for 36, the lowest international one-day score of all time and the shortest World Cup clash in history."

You gotta start somewhere!

Default Cricket anyone?

Firstly, Alex, that's WAY too much information!

Secondly Keith, if it ain't played on ice in this country, it ain't a real sport!

Looks like the team could've done with you, Jif... could you bat too?

Incidentally this is the first time I have heard you actually had a team!

Naw, couldn't bat - or catch - worth a shit. Now I know it's because my eyes were pointing off in different directions at any given time...

The only two things I could well do in school were bowling and shooting... remember the days when we had shooting ranges at school? Still got a trophy for that here, 32 years after the fact...

One of the games we play on ice is called "Boot the bear"..
Rules involve lots of beer ,a sleeping polar bear and a bunch of buddies...

Object of the game is to find a sleeping polar bear..consume the beer..sneak up on the bear and boot it in the sack and run...
Object of the game is not to out run the bear, but to out run your buddies...
You'll know if you won ...if you don't end up as the bears dinner..
and your ex-buddie does...
And as for the 36 crickets...that was on one eyebrow....
