Default Motors for sale

Just noticed the following ad listing jeep motors for sale. No connection to the seller.

May I ask what is a reasonable price to pay for a M38A1 replacement motor?

It all depends........ $800 without knowing the internal condition can be a lot of money for a boat anchor or even for a core to be totally rebuilt.....

Same rebuilt engine will fetch $3000. when done properly.....finding one can be a problem.

Lots more information is needed to justify the asking price on Kijiji.

Good luck

I see a nice gpmg/M2HB M23 cradle in the background of one photo. Those are getting harder to find.

Condition, condition, condition.

If it was me looking at a Willys CJ 4-cyl flathead and there were a couple available, I'd take the one with the most parts attached. Everything you have to buy individually will cost more than you expect. Even a dubious carb is a core you don't have to buy. Secondly, take a spark plug wrench and a small flashlight. See what the top of the cylinder looks like. The other thing would be to look for caked mud from sitting on the dirt too long. If the motor is for an M38, most of the same parts cross over, but the electronics are strictly USGI and 24v.
