Default M113A1 in Fort York 1970

This photo was sent to me by Al Ditter who served with 2RCR / 3 Mech Cdo in Fort York during 1969-1970. For those interested in Canadian camouflage patterns, notice that of the four carriers visible three have one pattern while the vehicle on the left has another. Something to ponder for those who are interested in modeling a carrier and want an authentic camouflage template. There is a large trailer just visible to the right of the last carrier.
If anyone would like a higher pixel copy of this photo (1500x1000) let me know and I will forward it to you.

Cheers,
Dan.

Default Great Photo!

Very intereting photograph of the M113A1s when they were only 4 years old. The trailer is an M104 11/2 ton trailer.

The three are painted in the proper Canadian cam pattern of the day. The fourth is someone's freestyle interpretation.

What's the truck in the background?

Something German.

Ft York was near Stockum, FRG (somewhere east of the Ruhr valley) and home to battalions from Central Canada either Guards or RCR. Sean Maloney's book War Without Borders describes the layout of the 1CIBG units and their little forts as, dispersing a brigade group in Kingston, Belleville and Gananoque, with the HQ in Smiths Falls.
