UC parts needed
help!!!!
i have cought the sickness. i have a 43 mk II carrier sitting in my drive way and am in need of parts..... front armor shild over the bren gun / boys gun mount.. lower armor plates for the eng area 4 road wheels (with rubber) armor shutters (all 3) and item # 105362 radiator pressure valve assembly can anyone help???? dave

Some Help
Dave,
I can help a little. I had lost that bent armour plate above the gun, as you have. Our pal Rob Groves makes them - MkI style. I made the one he sent me into a MkII with a little help from my other friends the hack saw and the mig welder. It will not be bullet resistant, so choose your battles carefully. The lower covers for the engine area are just mild steel sheet metal. They rot out like a bandit, so don't look too long before you just make new ones. I only have 1 fuel tank, so on that side thay are all custom to keep some heat and smoke inside the engine compartment. I will make you templates this fall when the show season is over, if you want. I may have the rad cap, I will clear away some spider nests and see if they left me anything out in the shed. Any pix of your Carrier? - we all like to see these rehabilitations in progress. Some sort of pleasure in sharing the misery .... Stewart

i really need the radiator cap assy. as far as the gunners plate im having another one built. its being made of space age composit (wood). it will stop all but the black tipped wood AP 8mm rounds. LOL but is shouls look good for now. im going with a single tank also so i dont have that pesky fuel problem. yes i would like the templets asap if you can. i have a bet with a friend on when i can get this monster on the road. do you have the modern part numbers for the spark plugs, wires, and distributer parts??? i like getting the "guppy" look at the counter at the local auto parts store...... The plugs are champion H10c, available in the farm/garden category. Gap them to .025" and youll be happy. A bit of anti-sieze on the plugs may help getting them out next decade. The points are available, I'll get the no's later if you need them . They are listed for two different models of later fords. For the bulk ignition wire Princess auto had spools of it in their surplus section for around $20 a roll. Otherwise, try Chrysler. I used to get it from them although they may be more expensive than PA. They may have the ends available as well.
The old resister ends on the wires could be re-used if you still have them, (they just screw on and off the old wire) otherwise They can be found at the old vehicle swap meets. They probobly aren't really required anymore as the resistance is built into the plugs. Someone told me NAPA auto parts now carry the points sets for the Fords. This is something new for them I guess. They didn't have these listed 10 years ago when I was doing other restorations.

WRT using a modern 6v coil and an adapter plate BUT NO BALLAST RESISTER - I understand that this can be very hard on the points sets. I'm OK with sneaking in a circuit which would put the full 6v through while starting and include the resister when running - Dodge did that forever. fitton
