Default Where you there - internment of the "Unknown Soldier"

Hi Guys

I was having a clean up in some draws and found a folder I had not seen for years and all the memories came flooding back. I was honoured to represent the SA National Servicements Association in Canberra for the internment of the "Unknown Soldier" at the Canberra War Museum Monument. I fortunate to have seen the open tomb and have dropped a poppy on the coffin before the tomb was sealed. It was a memorable day, one I will always remember, not only for the historical moment in time but also for being part of a group of servicemen who participated in the event. I noted with interest that we would never see another time where so many association banners and flags from all over Australia representing every part of the Australian Military Services would be paraded at the same time in one place in time.

LEST WE FORGET

Cheers

Tony
