I think the seller needs new glasses if he thinks this is a Ford.

I went and had a look at this a couple of years ago when I was still hunting parts for mine. Extremely poor condition this one. I didn't look at it for long.

Looks like it's come out of a truck with the crankshaft mounted fan.

Hi Matt,

Note from the description, it has a "cracked torque converter" or to be precise, fluid flywheel. I recollect someone from up that way was asking questions about how to deal with that fault on either this forum or HMVF, whatever, it mean an engine out to sort it.

regards, Richard

Hi Colin

I would love to have one, I showed it to my wife who stormed off, mumbled something I did not understand and slammed the door, so I take that as a BIG NO..

Cheers

Tony

Hi Tony, now that's you're problem! you showed her first. Perhaps you should just be "Recless", throw caution to the wind and buy it. Then tell her the made me do it.

Default RE .50 cal Browning Machine Gun Mount

Beleive these were designed for the AACO. Seen a few of these crated ones around over the years, including Corowa this year. Do not seem to sell well, which always surprises me for such an interesting bit of kit.
Did this design ever see service??
Rich.

Default Made for the Mk1 International 4x4s.

Rich,

I have had one of these for about 15 years. Picked it up at Bendigo Swap meet for $50.00.

The .50cal. is from a Liberator bomber and was recovered from a dam at Tocumwal many many years ago.

I think that these were made to fit the Mk1. Internationals 4x4's but did not fit the Mk3's, Mk5's or F2's.

There is a photo out there somewhere showing the mount on the roof of a Mk1. I thought I had it but sofar haven't found it. Maybe someone else has it available. I'll keep looking for it.

Mike C will be able to tell us more as I think he told me their history many years ago.

Regards Rick.

Must be a bit of that going on. The GMC CCKW was also "won" by a low-feedback bidder, but has now been re-listed!

Looks really nice and relatively unmolested. The climate seems to have been kind too, almost completely removing the fire service paint. Looks like an original mirror too - unobtainium!

But wait... is that young boy trying to make off with the bow tie?

Default Overpriced junk

More ill-informed advice from 2nd AIF! Perhaps should keep his ‘IMO’ to himself.

I have only one ‘overpriced junk’ left for anyone that maybe interested.

Tony,

If you think those trailers are overpriced, you must have had your eyes closed for a while mate! Continuing the theme, IMO they are very well priced for what they are/were from what i can see in the pictures in comparison to some sold lately in unrestored/restored condition (which i do agree were well overpriced, but not junk).

Ian.
