Default WWII Canso PBY Restoration

Hello All,

I am not sure whether this clip has been posted by anyone else under a different name? Anyway, I found a clip on YouTube about the efforts to restore a Canadian WWII Canso PBY accessed 10th August 2022 from, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFKSR5QFnqI

It certainly has an interesting retrieval story!

Kind regards
Lionel

Lionel,

how these youtube and internet algorithms work is a mystery to me.....as I got the same video as a recommendation in youtube yesterday! I understand the video was uploaded a couple of weeks ago, but the actual story dates from 2008 and the plane has been restored to flying condition in the meantime.
I must have missed it at the time, but I also thoroughly enjoyed the video and the story on the recovery.

There used to be (still is?) a complete Canso in a hangar not far from Kingston, Its been sitting there unused but not abandoned, for at least a couple of decades if not longer.
Don't know its history, apparently owned by someone out west but the story is vague to say the least.
Love to see it flying again...in Canada.

I know some Brits serveral years ago bought still airworthy former RCAF 1943 Canadian-built Canso, restored, renewed it and painted in in US markings as an OA-10B or some American designation..

When I wrote suggesting they could perhaps put a Canadian plane in Cdn colours, they were -not very friendly- to that idea.
