Default M548 cargo carriers

Hello All,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a good site with info on these.
also in service pics of Aussie ones, especially in Vietnam.
and if we still use them.
have any been released from OZ service etc.
how many do we/did we have?.

Would make an interesting vehicle to take to Corowa!.
I think we called them Tillys or TLC.

any info greatly appreciated.

Regards
Justin.

I take it that you want to go fishing?

TLC's are at moment waiting rebuild so that they are compatible with the new container delivery system and the new M113 upgrade.

Both these photos were taken at 1 Armd Regt at Pucka when the TLC was the back bone of resupply in the Regiment.

To the best of my knowledge they weren't used in Vietnam (by air and mark 5/F1 truck) but probably in East Timor with 3/4 Cav and 5/7 RAR.

There weren't in use when I was in 2 Cav in the late 90,s we used Mack and mogs for all resupply and by that stage 1AR was also.

Default One was for sale

Hello Justin

Tim Vibert had one for sale some years ago - ex British and ex Rapier resup I believe.

It may be the same one that went to Tasmania.

I have an original manual for for one used by 10th light Horse here in WA.

Cheers

Phill

It is amazing how ubiquitous the standard 20' shipping container has become. The Canadian Forces is going through the paperwork to specify and order 2 1/2 ton trucks with 20' container specialty offices. And a standard logistics load in AFG is a 20' container.
