Ford CMP Late Oil Filter
Today cleaning Ford oil filter. No manufacturer markings.
Only cap "Military Standard Filter" stamp You can si two clamps, but I do not find sense to use 2 and so close to each other. The 43 parts manual you only see one clamp in the diagram, but the 45 parts manual you see two clamps...

Change to two clamps was probably to stop vibration at a particular engine speed.

Here is the earlier single clamp model. Of interest is the remains of the decal: I can make out "OIL CONDITIONER", "Made Expressly for Ford Motor Company of Canada" then the partial words TRANSPO.. and PRES...IO Most likely Transportation (Division?) and Pres(tolite) (Ontar)io? I believe there was a Canadian manufacturer Prestolite, perhaps based in Ontario? Maybe our Canadian friends can shed some light on the Company. Cheers,

Prestolite did indeed make oil filters and housings for Ford vehicles, and their name should be stamped on the top cover as well. Fram also made the same filter housings, both in military junior and military senior sizes.

I see that in the drawing from the parts list in post #1, the two straps are shown as being the same part number 18661 despite being different. The raised flat section that fits around the bracket is wider on what should be the lower strap as the bracket is wider there. The photo in the post above shows how they don't fit if you swap them over.

Ford CMP- Oil filter/conditioner brackets and clamps
Hi Mariano and David,
Just had a look at my 1943 F-15A Parts List. I know it came out before the larger oil filter body came into use but it is of interest for the clamp part numbers. *C29Q 18661 is a "Clamp Assembly" as shown in illustration No. 45 it is a fabricated unit which has a bracket arm attached to it. I have never seen that type of clamp assembly on a Ford CMP in Australia. *C29Q 18662 is a "Clamp- oil filter" Note: It is not shown in illustration No. 45. As it is also not listed in first column of parts list "Ill. No." I suspect Mariano's diagram just used the earlier basic part number for the clamps and that most likely the clamps are *C29Q-18662 with a second version of that part number for the larger oil filter bodies requiring two different clamps. One other possibility is the diagram is wrong (not unusual) and one clamp is number 18661 and the other is 18662 on a larger body oil filter. As so often the case they are unique to CMP's If anyone has a later version of a parts manual that would be a way to confirm. Cheers,

Ford CMP- Oil Filter Decal
Hi Tony,
That sure does! Looks like a good project for doing some artwork next winter when the shed doesn't beckon. Gold background decal paper is very expensive I have discovered. Wonder how it was made more economical to produce those decals by the thousands in the past? Many thanks for that information. Cheers,
