Default Holes in gear box cover

Hello

Before the mount of the gear box cover of my F60 L painted a lot of years ago , I notice that there were holes (a large rounded by three little holes). Following the position of the 4 holes, I think that a coil (the same that are mounted on DODGE T110 under the windscreen) was mounted at this place. As my truck has been builded at the end of the war , I would like to know the opinion of any body about these holes. Maybe following the heat generated by the 8 cylinders engine the coil was mounted at these place?

Regards Serge

Is the big hole one of the ones for wading gear? I seem to remember seeing a post on here about it a while back. If I remember right it connects a tube to a matching hole in the roof of the cab for air.

Hello Lauren

I would like to read , please, the post about the hole you had described. In my truck there is also two other holes : the one on the ground in the left corner of the cab (behind the passenger seat) and right above in the roof an other hole closed by 6 nuts and a cover. I think that these two holes were intended to fix a large pipe for an antenna. I think that they had been done in factory because the nuts and the cover could not been done in french military garage (the 6 nuts have the same shape that all other FORD nuts and the cover is in steel pressed).
About the hole in the gear box cover , it has been perfectly done and match exactly with the coil used on DODGE T110 or DODGE 1/2 TON.

Before to suppress the hole in the gear box cover I would like to be certain they were not original hole.

Regards Serge
