Default GUN boxes

I have three Vickers Gun Boxes. Two are 46" wide and will also hold a lewis Gun by flipping a mounting block over. Both these boxes are 46" wide.

The other one is 43" wide. It clearly says Vickers Mk. 1 on the outside.

This box has a couple of blocks missing and one front lock device (now on a bren box).

My question is why the difference in widths??

The 43" wide box is available cheaply for refurbishing or parts.

Could it be for the different magazines each gun used as the lewis used a drum right...?

Peter,

Do you mean length or width? Lenght I presume.

I believe the Vickers to be shorter than the Lewis. Maybe the shorter of your boxes is for a Vickers only?

Cheers,

Default hardware

Are you familiar with No.15 sniper rifle or the CNo.7 rifle chest? The hinges are simple strap stampings, but the hasps and keepers are unique heavy stampings and little steel castings. Sound like the hardware on the Vickers boxes?

I have a spare C7 box and some spare hinges (2) but only one spare hasp.
