Battle of Britian BBC Witness
Richard Hillary was a Australian born BOB pilot . He was shot down and badly burnt . He wrote a book, I read it years ago. Imagine my surprise when listening to the BBC last night. They broadcast a show with his actual voice . WITNESS . He describes being shot down . He didn't survive the war , killed in a training accident in 1943 .
listen to it here http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/witness http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p004t1hd Mike

Wonderful
Thanks for the link - I've listened to the Richard Hillary one, he sounded so mature for a young man only 21 years old. What a tragedy to die in a training accident after going through all that.
I've downloaded a lot more of them - they make excellent listening on the long journeys to Temora and other places I go to do similar stories. Last week and this it's been Beaufort men - two WAGs last week from 7 and 100 Squadrons and this Wed a Beaufort pilot from 100 Squadron. The other man I interviewed last week was a Spitfire pilot flying with 611 Squadron, Biggin Hill just after the Battle of Britain.
