Here is an article from the 7 December, 2007 edition of the Ottawa Citizen that may be of interest.

Great picture of the Leopard and interesting story, thankfully there were no serious casualties. I would take Major Gosselin's comments of the Leopard being the "most modern battle tank in the world" though as a salve for the Canadian masses as I think the U.S.A, Israel, et al might take a contradictory position.

I wonder if the next latest and greatest developement touted by DND for the Leopard II will be Zimmerit?
At least our boys aren't loading up the front of the tanks with sand bags and tank tracks for additional protection. Wouldn't want George rolling over in his grave, would we? Derek.

Are the Leopard 2s being use for training in Canada or are they an operational purchase?

I just got back couple months back , and while I was there seemed that half the Leo's were broken more times then they were working. Their maintainers were always out with the Squadron to keep them rolling, or busy in the FOB trying to get them back up and running.

The great thing about having the Leo's is when you are rolling with them everyone gets out of the way when going through built up areas
