M38A1 - Mounting bolts between front seats
I've been wondering for some time now what was mounted between the front seats on my M38A1. Seems to me that it would be a fire extinguisher but I don't think there was a mount that used so many bolts!
Thanks, Rick |

Here is a shot of the type of bracket Peter is referring to.

I'm surprised that a pyrene would have been fitted instead of an ansul. In any event, I am happy to know what fits. Does anyone have specs for the correct pyrene extinguisher and bracket style? Were these a carry over from another mv? Thanks

Could be the SMG rack?

SMG rack is 3 1/4" bolts.
Pyrene is correct for the 1950s SMP vehicles. The red and later the blue ansuls were a product of the late 60s/early 70s. What year is your M38A1 Rick? |

The sterling smg bracket is mounted on the dashboard, to the left of the grab bar.
The hole spacing looks absolutely correct for a pyrene style mount |
