Default Carrier Manufacturers ID

Has anyone come across either on their carrier or in references details which show companies logos stamped on carriers.
As you know Ford made carriers have the Ford script stamped on the edge of the armour in varying positions ahead of the driver. What about the Thornycroft made carriers? Did they have the Thornycroft "T" or name stamped there? Aveling Barford? Vickers? etc.

Any id - ars!!

Nigel,

Sentinel of Shrewsbury, the steam wagon makers, were another. I know someone whose father worked there, building them at the beginning of the war, prior to going in to the RAF. When I see him next, I will ask him if he knows.

Sometimes you can find Inspectors stamps on vehicle components during cleaning and often they have the initials of the company, worth looking for.

Default Ok them as well

OK Sentinel Wagon, Nuffield, and Wolseley were the other ones! Not counting the Loyd Carrier boys which were Loyd (obviously), Arnfield, Dennis, Harland Engineering, MB Wild and Sentinel Wagon. Yep you got it, Sentinel Wagon was the only manufacturer to make both the Universal and Loyd Carriers.

So could all owners, people who know where these wonderous vehicles lie unloved go searching for the manufacturers stamp on that edge armour infront of the driver. Thanks

Richard it would be interesting to see if if your guy remembers what mark was put on.
