Scout Carrier
Hi all
I have read Ben H's blog on his Scout Carrier restoration from beginning to end, studied all my references, asked Google for advice, but with no success for what I am looking for! Does anyone have a pic which shows the layout of the right rear (radio operator's) compartment of the Scout Carrier? I am trying to make a model thereof, but cannot work out where the radio (No 11, I think), seat(s) and other stowage might fit. Chris |

The right rear compartment is correct according a picture in Vol 1 page 58 of Nigel Watson's books which shows the wireless operator. It would definitely have been a WS11. It can only sit inside the rear panel but I don't know if the width is such that the PSU's are mounted on top of the wireless frame. (there is provision to do that)
Have you PM'd Ben? He borrowed the carrier from my WS11 to copy it for his 11 set wireless in his Scout. Ron Last edited by Ron Pier; 12-04-20 at 07:20. |

Scout carrier No 11 mount
Hello Chris and Ron,
As the original finder/owner I can confirm that the No 11 set mounting for the Scout was with the PSU mounted on top of the set. I had a No 11 set temporarily set up in it at one stage. From memory there was also stowage for the spare parts box and a remote unit to the left (forward in the hull) of the No11 mount. I'm sure Ben can supply the full details in due course. Regards Phill

Scout Carrier
Hi guys
Thanks for your speedy replies. I can source plenty pics of the No 11 radio set, but cannot work out where everything was situated. The pic on p58 of Vol 1 of Nigel Watson's book is fine, but does not show anything within the compartment. The radio op is presumably looking at his set, but on p59 is another guy looking the other way; maybe he is sitting on the radio?? Problem with the radio at the rear is that hinged panel (unique to Scout carriers). Is there enough height to make that useful as a map table, with the radio there too? Anyway, thanks, and I'll see if I can get on to Ben Hawkins. Chris |
