radio set Burndept 203
hello all and greetings from the borderlands....does anybody here have any knowledge on the set pictured on the left of the picture(not the CV-13) I am led to believe its a Ground to Air Set as used by the Malayan Scouts during the 1950's emergency it comes complete with mule panniers,12v metal cased battery and charging set..I am led to believe it may have also been used as part of a so called Airborne Tentacle in conjuction with a 62 set which I also have...set is in working condition having been stored away for many years...question: was this a wartime set!many thanks malcolm

Burndept BE 201.
100 - 156 MHz Amplitude Modulated. 8 crystal controlled channels. 12V operation using Supply Unit No.42 The supply unit to set connectors are 6-way Bulgin plugs and not waterproof. It replaced the CN 348 for ground to air comms (ASSU tentacle). Range is around 50 miles for aircraft at 5000 feet. I think surplus ones were used for UK Mountain Rescue base stations. Manuals are available on the internet (and from the usual suspects). Chris. Last edited by Chris Suslowicz; 22-05-16 at 15:22. Reason: The inevitable typo spotted after posting; and it was 5000 feet, Sheesh! |
