Default CMP cab change

Hi can anyone tell me if it is possible to fit a Chev No12 cab to a Chev No13 cab model chassis. I have a spare No 12 cab and a C60S chassis with a very badly rusted No13 cab.

Default Interesting Question

I've got Pattern 12 and Pattern 13 Chevy C60 sitting in the shop I'll take a few measurments. Also I've got pictures of both bare frames which I'll dig out and post.

Any body out there got one of each disassembed and sitting side by side.

Have you gone the route of looking in the parts book?

Default Vive la difference.....

....cause it is not significant.......

To the best of my knowledge, without spending hours in fridgid weather to measure the various frames I have....... there are no major differences in size width, lenght, etc......

However, the cab 11 and cab 12 are bolted on the frame or I should say through the frame...... therefore extra holes in the frame...... the cab 13 has those ugly massive cast support , L shaped on each side of the frame roughly above the frotn axle and the wussy leaf spring attachment as a 3rd point at the rear of the cab........ early cab 11 have smaller Delco front shocks usually found on VC Dodges..... and finally the engine cross member on early cab 11 only has one thckness of steel where it attaches to the side frame..... they usually cracked and the later cab 12 and all cab 13 had a second layor of steel shaped and rivited to the ends where they connected to the frame..... from my experince they also cracked but at the lower connecting point Which was not so visible and no see no fix..........

So either cabs can be used you might have to remove the 13 pads and leaf spring and drill a few holes predicated by the bolt pattern of the floor plates......oh yes.... you will have to fabricate some 3/4 x 2 inch hard wood spacers to fit between cab floor and frame.

Good luck and show us some pictures of before during and after....

Default Cabs

There are some other differences to be aware of with this conversion. One is the front cab mount - single and central for cab 13 and dual on cab 12s. Also the clutch and brake pedals are different lengths between the cab types which may be the most difficult thing to adapt unless you have a spare set to match the cab.

Default Cabs

As far as I know also the seeringboxes are slightly different, the angle of mounting is different, a friend once wanted to mount a cab 13 steeringbox in his C15TA, it did not fit, the box from a cab 11 or 12 was just right.

G'Day Neil,
Where abouts in this wide brown land are you?
Chev No 13 cabs are like left eyes around here (Most people have one). PM me if you are anywhere near Wagga Wagga!

One of the things I enjoy about Australia is your concept of distances.

Its like a small place like Australia he probably lives right next door, only one or two time zones away.

But then again if you are going to collect CMPs shouldn’t you have an example of each of the body styles.

Default Stand corrected....

Yes the pedal cluster is totally different on the early cab 11 and 12 but should bolt on the cab 13 frame... probably with a few more holes drilled.....

The front of the early cabs do have two connections on the front end of the arches.... they bolt on to a inverted U channel that in turn bolts to the frame.....

Steering box...... never noticed they were different angle.... which implies that they must be bolted with different cast based ... so if that is so tranplanting the steering bracket from the cab 11/12 that bolts on the frame of the cab 13 along with the steering box
should correct the angle.... never did notice this before... must investigate further and document with camera.

Thanks for the edification.....

Hello to everyone, thanks for the info so far gives me a starting point, I have been looking through the parts manuals, but wasn't too sure about the rear cab mounts and pedals.
