Default Easy Questions

Hi guys
rare post from a frequent reader.
Appreciate answers to the following...
1. What colour are the chev motors (CMP of course) I'm guessing machine grey.
2. Current number / availability of the oil filter shown in MBC1 & 2.

thanks in advance
RC-S

Answer to Question #2...

AC Delco P-117, GM # 5572425, commonly available I should think.

Default # 1 ..oh no not again!

The colour of Chevrolet engines has been hotly debated on Chevrolet forums for some time now, and I confess that I can never remember. However I looked up a forum I replied to and it may help. Yes, that's me..'Oracle', a Moderator and have been since 1999.

Try this link

All the photos I have seen of new chassis, factory-fresh, seem to indicate that they were painted the bluey-grey. However a photo inside Walkerville/Windsor Transmission Plant taken during the war showing hundreds of 216 engines suggests a darker colour.

Thanks David, have purchased RAL 7031. Could have been purple for all I knew, so blue/gey will be fine.
John, tried that number but the filter is a bit too long and does not have the flared bit on the end, though the guy at the shop agreed that the number should be about right. Still looking.
Thanks all.
