Default 17 DoYRCH Staghounds?

I understand the 7th recce used Humber Mk.IVs until late Sept.44 and then switched to Daimler Mk.Is. There was a photo posted on this forum a while back showing a Staghound attributed to the 3CID which to my mind would be DoYRCH. The photo was of a march past and dated June 6/45. Did they actually get some Staghounds before the shooting stopped or was one supplied just for parade purposes? I have a kit I'd like to do up in something other than 12th Manitoba Dragoon markings (no offence intended, I have a fondness for 3CID).

Thanks, Dave

Dave,

Do you have any photos or details of these Humbers used by 7th Recce?

I have a copy of their regimental wartime history in "a safe place". If I can lay hands on it, the answer may be there.

Terry,

If there are any reference to Humber MkIV census numbers, I would be interested.

Sorry Richard, my total information came from searching this site. I was paraphrasing a posting from John McGillivray who was referencing 'An Historical Account of the 7th Canadian Reconnaisance Regiment' by Captain Walter Pavey (Montreal 1948).
Speaking of Humber Mk.IV census numbers, can anyone supply an alternate name & number in a similar vein to the well-known F133723 'Cigar'? Was there a 'Cigarette' perhaps? I just don't like building kits straight out of the box.
Cheers, Dave

I re-read Roger Lucy's 'Staghound in Canadian Service' (which I should have done in the first place) and he states that the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division (headquarters) received three and were "mainly the command, control or rear link versions". I'm assuming the one in the parade photo is the 7th recce CO's 'charger'.
Cheers, Dave

Regarding the collections canada photo of 'cigar' on John's link, note the chap in the extreme left giving his best "Hi Mom" smile & wave. Kind of takes away some of the drama. doesn't it?
As for Humber Mk.IV census numbers, Dick Taylor notes blocks F117715 to 118714 and 133150 to 134149 (total 2000) as being assigned to the Mk.IV (from Warpaint Vol.1). I'm still looking to see if I can winnow out Canadian numbers.
Cheers, Dave
