Default Australian and British carriers in The Netherlands East Indies

1. There were Australian units in the NEI 1942, i e Blackforce, Gullforce and Sparrow force. I have seen that they brought carriers. But which type and in wich numbers?

2. Did the British evacuate carriers from Singapore to NEI?

Default Aust carriers

They were LP2a carriers. LP1 carriers were only used in limited numbers in the Middle East, and we had very few British or Canadian manufactured carriers.

The picture below is taken from Mike Cecil's book on Aussie Carriers:

Default Australian Carriers

Thanks a lot!

So this one was used by the Japanese on Ambon. I have noted that Gull Force (2/21st Btn) had four carriers. 2 in A-Coy at Latoehalat and 2 at Laha AFB.

Very nice to see a picture of one of theese.

Stellan

Default British-Indian Carriers in the NEI

The 2/15 Punjab Btn (LtCol Lane, MC) operating 1942 on Borneo should have 14 Carriers.

Who know wich type they were and manufactured where?

Dear Stellan,
For what I understood these carriers never really entered the NEI as they had to stay on the "British" side of the border: there was no ongoing road.

Greetings,
Nuyt
