Well,

I am pulling up in a caravan park (Is that a trailer park???) with family & my caravan in the Australian Capital Territory.... On holidays.... as we had to see the sites... and someone in my family says... "Look its a Blitz... (CMP)

" and I say ... 'Noooo cant be.....as I maneuver between two busses in the land of politicians and scenic views.... but: Yes, it is..

This one is owned by and ex-3RAR Soldier. A Korean War veteran

. Nice fellow. Like most of the regiment they are quiet, easy going blokes. He is very humble and I am happy to share a few moments on his truck.

The truck has a Perkins diesel. Last registered up until march last year. The fuel tank is under the chassis between the rails at the back..

Enjoy.. Something different... Not my kinda truck, but its still driveable. Oh and the gearbox and running gear looked in good order.

That would have been a hard one to miss. Not my cup of tea either, but rather see one like this than rusting away in a paddock,
Probably fit a jeep in the back...

Hi Bill,

I was told that they had traveled around in it, but have 'upgraded' to a bus. So only short trips as the fuel price made long drives prohibitive. Registration has expired, so I dont envisage many drives from now on...
So the short answer is; No its not lived in anymore..

I firmly agree. As aesthetically incorrect as it is.. There is a warhorse beneath the tin. Better than a gate guardian, or a paddock memorial.

years ago a bloke from Canberra contacted me for some blitz parts and he told me he had a 6x6 ford blitz that was fitted with a ford 6 cylinder engine and it served in Darwin during the war as a medical truck of some sort.I never chassed him up at the time and I belive he has since passed on, often wounded if the blitz was a F60H made into a 6x6

It looks a lot like one I remember seeing back in the 70s under construction - started out as a F60L like that one. Looks like copper brake pipes have been used...

Copper lines are not too bad. I have not had a problem with them in the past... I was young & more bullet proof then! Brake failures were not a worry. Reminiscent of a ride in a C60L at your place.

I have driven a lot of blitzs since I could reach the clutch pedal. Can't remember one of them that had brakes.

As I understand it copper tents to fatigue and can crack with vibration and is therefore unreliable for either fuel or brake fluid.

In Canada it is illegal and if you are stop for a road inspection you will be grounded until it is replace.

A road rock could pierce the copper tubing and especially with the CMP one chamber master cylinder you cannot take a chance.

Today brake steel tubing are available and they are very flexible.

If you want I could give you a brand of tubing that you do not require tool to bend and it does a job better than the original.

I used to be a salesman and these tubing were one of the product I was selling.

Gilles is correct in that copper tubing for brake lines is a definite no-no! When I replaced the entire brake system in my F8 I used steel lines throughout.

The copper brake lines currently available in the UK are actually an alloy of copper and something - maybe it's nickel . It isn't straight copper anyway.

The WW2 Morris' here have factory copper brake pipes with strange single flared ends .. never seen anything like it.

As I mentioned, it is CuNiFer: mostly copper with some nickel and steel. I don´t know of any other material in use today here in Europe. . .

Hi guys,if i remember correctly the original brake lines were copper coated?.
mine were on the f30,but i have replaced them all for saftey sake with modern brake line pipe.
