Question T16 Identification

Kindest regards all.

Now an old question.......

Who/where would be a decent starting point to get a vehicle's history?

Now that my old girl has been shot blasted and it's revealed more data numbers, curiousity has once again got a grip.

FS 5598 stamped on LHS front toe-eye as an example.

Would RTC Museum at Beverley, Yorkshire have any record of vehicle transfers of this type.

Again any help much appreciated.

Jeff

Default Probably not

I did hear that Beverley has all the info on post-war British vehicles, but only by registration number, so couldn't do much with just a chassis number.

If I took the (post-war) registration number of my WW2 GPW to them they could probably tell me everything it did between the time it was rebuilt and the time it was sold off, but I'm not that interested in it's post war history.

Default Armour ID

Jeff
Your starting point would be The Tank Museum at Bovington, Wareham. They deal with most of the known armour id's. If you could send me all the numbers and markings that you have come across, and where on the vehicle you have found them, I have a somewhat incomplete list that may kick up some facts.
