Default Wireless Set No. 19 derelict wanted

I'm looking for a broken, re-painted, ham-operator -modified Canadian No.19 set sender/receiver for parts, specifically the case and few knobs and dials.

Also looking for a not so dead variometer.

Canada, Ontario location preferred for ease of shipping or pick-up.

Any help appreciated,

Bruce

Default Thrashed #19

Bruce,
I have a No.19 that's pretty rough--got it years ago because the Cyrllic markings were cool. Problem is I'm in SoCal, so you'll probably have better luck in Canada AFA shipping.

Cheers!

Default Thanks Tom!!

But it may be best to leave the set in California...I'm sure it has a story to tell!!
There are more 'baffed' sets here that enough, but it's always when you WANT one, you can't FIND one.

(my question is why ham operators feel the irresitible need to take perfectly functional sets, ones that took the goverment years to perfect, and improve them. I can't recall ever seeing one better off after the "treatment")

What they look like un-mucked:

Default Dave Dave Dave...

I do have a place to put them. I've been trying to get the nuke plant here to use 'em for fuel. Now go out and start your Morris. Should keep you too busy to think up comments like that...

Default British

For the Morris you need a British set. Very nice vehicle if you are alone. Went for one , my wife didn't like the passengers foot rest

Gren greetings Hendrik

Default C4 mk 2 with house wireless body

The pic posted by Hendrik :

What a rare find .... looks like a C4 mk 11 with the No.1 Mk III house type body on it . I would have slipped some sleeping pills in the wife's coffee........wife goes to sleep , and driven it home ASAP . It would be ideal as a retreat when wifey gets angry too . Hide in there playing with radios .

There is another body of this type on a restored Guy Ant 4X2 somewhere in the UK .

19 sets , I had a few sets and many other bits , but not much left now. Still have a few B set bases , the rubber part that the short VHF antenna screws into . These are rather rare .

It amazes me how many hams used the 19 set on the air after the war . They were very unstable and crude , but still worked OK . Reports from many AFV crews say the sets jumped off frequency as the tank bumped along . The big falldown with them was that effective netting was always difficult to achieve .

Hey Mike

I'd be interested in one of those aerial mounts. I have my no.10 mount for the A set but not the small mount - no.6 I think isn't it.

Could pick it up from you at Corowa in March if that's ok?

Default OK

OK Pedr

Don't know if I am going next Corowa . But I will have a base for you , no problem . The rubber base sits on a tubular metal base, easy to make . I have the plans here .

I had about 50 of them , down to about 8 left I think . Sent many of them around the world .

Andrew T ( you know who ) had some of the short antennas ,but they are easy to make from a bit of rod .

Mike
