I came across this online and thought it a good thing to post in here, specially so for people of Icelandic Descent of course.

VETERANS of ICELANDIC DESCENT
The Jon Sigurdsson Chapter IODE and the Book of Life-Vesturaettir are pleased to announce
the launch of the Veterans of Icelandic Descent World War II database.
The web address of the database is http://www.bookoflifeonline.com/ww2.htm
This free internet resource contains over 1,600 photographs and more than 2,100 biographical
records of people of Icelandic descent who served in the Canadian and American armed
forces during the Second World War. The majority of the information is drawn from the
Jon Sigurdsson Chapter IODE's 1990 publication 'Veterans of Icelandic Descent World War II'
and the 1993 'Supplement'. However, approximately fifty new photographs, not included
either book, have been added as part of the database project. Members of the public are
encouraged to help complete the database by sending in new photographs and records.
Lists of missing photographs can be found at http://www.bookoflifeonline.com/ww2missing.htm.
For details on how to submit information, email veterans@bookoflifeonline.com
The launch of the World War II database completes a project begun in June 2001, when the
Jon Sigurdsson Chapter IODE agreed to provide financial support for digitization of the 1923 book
'Minningarrit Islenzkra Hermanna, 1914-1918 (Record book of Icelandic servicemen, 1914-1918).
A database of First World War veterans drawn from this book was launched in September 2001,
and has since attracted thousands of visitors from Canada, the United States, and Iceland.
New biographical records and photographs are still being accepted for this database as well.
The address is http://www.bookoflifeonline.com/ww1.htm
I invite you to search the databases, and I look forward to receiving your comments, questions,
and feedback. Best Regards, Ryan Eyford.
