25pdr ammo boxes
25pdr ammunition comes in two parts , the cartridge (shell case)and the projectile so that the most suitable round can be made up in the field to suit the target. The most common types of projectile were HE ( high explosive) or AP ( armour piercing). Because cartridges and projectiles were different sizes different size boxes were required. I have seen a number of different wartime boxes and the number of post-war types is even greater.
I have the dimensions of a few, they are; Box P60 Mk1 (4 AP shot)- 19.375" x 12.3" x 5.2" Box P59 Mk2 (4 HE shot)- 19.15" x 8.35" x 7.85" Box C206 Mk2 (8 cart)- I may be able to find some other sizes. |

Here is a beauty of a box that I was able to get through the generosity of Chris Vickery and the late John Adamiak. I took casings out of the limber just so you can see how they fit.

I will get you some measurements and also I will try to post a photo of another box I got. It had a nice surprise inside. I got a new Canon digital camera when the old Canon broke. I specifically bought a Canon because of their extremely simple and user friendly computer program. Well wouldn't you know the new program is bigger and better and consequently harder for someone like me to figure out. Luckily my son in law gave me some direction so I will see what I can do. Hi Kurtis
I tried to post photos of CC5 last weekend and I couldn't get it to work. I will get the box photos this weekend and if it still won't work I will contact Geoff. The photos are small enough because I email them to myself first. Maybe it's this new user unfriendly photo program or maybe it's the guy in front of the keyboard. Cheers, Barry

25 pdr ammo box
Hi Barry,
Please see attached photo. If you are unable to post photo in here, please reply in word. Just a question, I want to know whether the C206 ammo box both sides(front & back) are same. Or the other side is same as the right hand side ammo box. Thanks. Best regards, Kurtis source from : http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/sh...ighlight=otter |

Kurtis, here are some photos of the P-59 box. The one on top is the most interesting one.

The box was painted black by the original owner who removed it from an ammo train, Guess what was in it?

This is how they fit in the box and they are heavy as hell. You would have had to be in good shape to slug these all day.

Kurtis, here is the last one. This is the tag that was in the bottom. Interesting that a farm machinery company made these.

Kurtis, the vehicle in the background is a G-506 Chevy. I actually shipped it back from Holland to Canada. Another unfinished project.
Cheers, Barry
