CTV News
I saw this on the 2200 newscast and photographed it off of the TV during the 2300 showing. Apparently CTV News seems to think that F8F Bearcat fighters were used during the Battle of Britain! I guess it is just too difficult to find an image of a Spitfire or a Hurricane.

Battle of Britain Memorials
Here is an image of the newest one near the Houses of Parliament on the River Thames in London that I photographed in the spring of 2009.
And here are a couple of images of the one located in Kent when I last visited during the summer of 2006 with my Father and Son. The Boddingtons was already there when we arrived in the morning. This Hurricane is a glassfibre replica. |

Ed they need a historical consultant
Quote:
Sorry to say we all see stuff like this on TV down here in the states it generally is the history channel that doesn't have a clue about correct images, wife won't watch any thing about WWII, Korea, etc with me unless I promise not to keep pointing out the equipment errors, or that the gun camera images in a program about Korea are actually of a ME109. Hope you offered CTV your services as a "well paid" historical equipment expert, charge them say $200 per correct image identification. PS how did you happen to have your camera at hand to catch the image? Cheers Phil

Stupid TV stations
Well done to capture this Phil. Beggars belief really and the sad thing is they perpetuate their own errors.
On a happier note I'm going to interview a BoB veteran, Charles Palliser tomorrow. Here's some info on him. (link) This man is the real deal, a true hero. Quote:

Ed,
As an image representing the Battle of Britain, that is very ordinary indeed. At least they got the right PM. Rich.
