Default CANADA Day in Preston Ontario

I'm once again looking for Veh Owners in the neighbourhood on JULY 1 2009.

"Cambridge Celebrates Canada Day is celebrating its 35th Anniversary this year. Each year we attract more people to the city of Cambridge for our Canada Day Festival and for the 2009 event we intend on increasing our attendees by promoting outside the Region of Waterloo. We are now listed in EFO. This will be a televised event.
The Largest Canada Day Parade in the Country will take place on Wednesday July 01, 2009 at 1:00PM starting from Preston Auditorium located at Bishop and Hamilton Streets. The parade will then proceed down King Street 4 KM and will disband at Kin Stadium inside Riverside Park.
Cambridge Celebrates Canada Day committee would like to invite you to participate in our parade for the 2009 event"

Contact me if you wish to participate. Stewart Loy, Jordan Baker and I have a plan in place from many years experience.

Many thanks

Default Jordan, Stewart -

Plan as per usual, drive through town twice.

Maybe we should consider stopping for breakfast as we move to the start line?

Charlie,

'Breakfast' was long ago at 6:30 AM.

The meal of which you speak is 'brunch'.

Please count me in.

Stewart...
Charlie has a lot to learn when it comes to meal time..You are just the training pro he needs..It never ceases to amaze me how you manage to keep that rakish thin boyish figure..
Looking to a few lessons the next time you and Machine Gun Mary are in Ottawa.

Default It would be BRUNCH

if we went at the normal times.

I'm suggesting we start a bit sooner, halt the carriers and other toys downtown for an hour or so while we have some form of repast in a local greasy spoon.

Should make for an interesting photo, and parking is free on Sat....

Sounds like a good idea. Nothing like having the rumbling of tracked vehicles settle all that grease.

It appears (99% sure) that I will be off on the aformentioned day (July1st) I will bring the UC out for its 3rd parade. Would you also like the Jeep? If one of your guys wants to drive it, I will. Im good but not that good to drive both at the same time.

Sally and I will attend, and if you need extra driver(s) we are available. Just give us a time and a place to meet and we'll see you there, even at oh-dark-thirty!

Shot over, shot out.

Default The Parade-

If Jordan can get both jeep and carrier here , all the better.

Geoff seems a great option to drive , let's go with that.

Veterans get first priority as passengers, of course.

RV in the Kiwanas park bu the soccder pitches as per usual drill - can Stewart do his usual route by 0930?

"BRUNCH" enroute downtown for those who insist on gastronomicaly correct technical terminology. (Yet he calls everything in his shop a "thingy")

So far the attendees are -3x carriers, 1 x jeep 1 x Iltis. (and whomever chooses to join us.)

Canada Day is on Wednesday July 1st, not Saturday...

Aside from that, name the time and place and we'll be there.

Fine with me - I put 30,000 miles on an M38A1 Jeep way-back-when, have driven an MB and did about 500,000 kms on a series of CJ7s and YJs.

Having said that, Sally is fully qualified to drive a stick as well (she can even double-clutch), albeit not a CMP without some practice...

...which brings me to another question - is Stewart bringing his carrier or his Chev, or both? I can handle the Chev if push comes to shove.

Last question - where the hell is the Kiwanis Park in relation to a fixed intersection? With my well-known navigational expertise I can find my way from there.

Looking forward to a good greasy breakfast...

Default Rv

NLT 0930 Hrs, WED Jul 1

on ROGERS Rd approx 600m WEST of SPEEDSVILLE Rd,

Cambridge (Preston) On.

The area has numerous baseball and soccer fields, and a lot of parking lots.
We'll have some Normandy Pl pers there to RV.

Breakfast ( brunch for the fussy ), followed by a move to the start line at the corner of Bishop and King in Preston.

I'm sure ales can be found in a local establishment, post parade.

Ok I'll get my travel plans setup for pickup for 2:30pm and the truck is booked.

Gents,

Do you guys only do 1 parade a day?

I am able to do a late day parade in Stratford, so I can't linger too long at the watering hole...

The weather was great, thanks Dave... cloudy but dry and cool enough for young and old alike to avoid overheating. I have to say that I was amazed - it looked like the whole damned town was out in the streets for this! Talk about revitalising my faith in the people of this country - I've been living in Toronto too damned long now...

We had three carriers out, Stewart's T-16, Jordan's Mk.1* and Charlie Fitton's Mk.2*, and in addition one Willys MB (Jordan's) and one Ford GPW as well as two Iltis's. Unfortunately, there weren't a lot of veterans out for this, but the carriers carried a couple; all of our vehicles followed the regimental pipe band and received a tremendous reception by the public... particularly entertaining for the crowd was when Charlie shut off his carrier and had his HLI troops rig a tow chain from the T-16 within a couple of minutes - you'd almost think he broke down or something...

Anyway, situation retrieved with due honour and appreciation and we carried on to the end!

Pics will follow shortly. It was a damned good run!

Kudos to those who participated... we will attend again.
