Default Slat Grill solid disc rim???

Hi Guys,

I just realized that what I thought was four combat rims and a civian CJ rim on my jeep turned out to be four combat rims and an early slat grill solid disc rim. I have heard that these are rare. Any idea what its worth? I was thinling of selling it to help pay for another WLC resto project.

Let me know your thoughts.

Cheers
Jason

Default Solid Rims

The early slat grill jeep rims are 4" wide where the post war civilian types are 4.5" wide. Difference in value is about $175 between the two if in very good condition. The wartime rim can be identified by looking at the inside where the flap or liner would be. You will find a maker name or logo as well as a date from either 1941 or very early 1942. Think they ended in February. There are other visual differences from the outside in how square or rounded some places are but I don't think I could convey how to tell them apart in text.

I have four dated 1941 and one dated 1942 on my slat grill. Checking the date is the easiest way to know either way and if you want top dollar, you 'd probably need to be able to show what you have is not the later civilian pattern.
