Default WLA TAC Signs

Can anyone help me with information of the TAC signs on my WLA that I just bought? The sign on the right appears to be a N over 8 -8?
Thanks
Darren

Default Mp

Hello Darren,

I believe it represents a Military Police motorcycle attached to Southern Command (Victoria) the numbers identify the Divisional Provost Company to which it belonged.

Other members feel free to correct my post.

Regards

Phill

Default Northern Command

Hi Darren and Phil.

Not Southern Command, which at that time was a silver Southern Cross on a Blue shield surmounted by a white crown, on a grey background. What we are seeing is all Northern Command:

Formation: Blue Maltese Cross with gold crown superimposed, all on a white background: Northern Command.

Unit: N is Northern Command, 828 is a Command Provost Company, so the Military Police company of Northern Command.

'MP' is, obviously, Military Police.

Dates from the 1950s. The Formation sign was first promulgated in October 1952, and the unit sign from May 1953.

Regards

Mike

Default Wla package truck

Hi, Thanks for the info in regards to the TAC signs. I have also just recently found a 'package trunk' for my WLA. Have been told the army fitted them to their WLA on dusting side car frames. Have painted it because someone has painted with green house paint. There is olive drab underneath and has the writing on the bottom of the box which I have left as is. Does anyone know anything about the box or if the army used them?
Thanks
Darren
