Default Australian Military Equipment Collectors Limited Victorian High Country Tour 2102

2012 Victorian High Country Tour March 2012
Australian Military Equipment Collectors Limited will be running a on road off road tour of the Victorian Alpine Region. The run is suitable for all four wheel drive military vehicles of small to Duece and a half size. This is a great opportunity to meander through some stunning country side visiting beautiful valleys and mountain ridge roads with fantastic scenery.

Owners of vehicles need to be competent with the use of their vehicles off road and be self-sufficient as we will not be passing a shop or petrol station every day. If you have any concerns please feel free to contact the organiser to discuss.

Day One Sunday 18 March the group will meet up at the Myrtleford camp ground after 12 noon. This will allow those attending Corowa to move off after the event winds down. We will camp the night and have a pre run brief.

Day Two Monday 19 March Myrtleford to the Wonnangatta Valley which lies deep within the great dividing range. We will follow the Humphries river track into the Wonnangatta Station site and camp the night at this historic site.

Day 3 Tuesday 20th March Wonnangatta Valley to Dargo, we will travel from the valley via the historic gold mining sites on the Crooked river of Talbotville and Hart. This will be a slow days drive with great scenery with a camp on the Dargo River.

Day 4 Wednesday 21 March Dargo River to Benambra Pub, today we and drive along Dargo High Plains Road and visit the Mount Hotham Ski Resort. We then travel via Omeo to Benambra for a night at the pub and chance for a hot shower and a cooked meal.

Day 5 Thursday 22 March Benambra Pub to Delegate river, we will take the Black Mountain road to McKilops Bridge for lunch and then to an overnight Camp at Delegate River. This will all be on minor roads and should be an easy days drive.

Day 6 Friday 23 March Delegate River to Bombala, Nimmitabel will be on sealed roads. We will turn off at Nimmitabel and follow the top of the coastal edge of the Great Dividing past Countageny onto the Kewaree Road onto the Slap Up fire trail into Captains Flat were the trip will end . From here those travelling to Yass will continue through Bungendore and home, there is an opportunity for those travelling from further afield to travel in toward Queanbeyan for a camp and visit the Australian War Memorial the next day if they choose.

Cost is $85.00 and this includes a years membership to Australian Military Equipment Collectors Limited. For people from Victoria not wanting to travel North feel free to join us for part of the trip, cost however will remain fixed. Contact Max Hedges to arrange your booking and paper work on 02 6226 1464.

Hi Rusty

What you are describing sounds like a great event, hope there will be lots of pictures and video to share, with your brothers from the Northern Regions.

The organizers are to be complimented.

Cheers Phil
