Default Replacing Windows Movie Maker

After another wasted day trying to save a short clip edited with Windows Movie Maker I have decided to actually spend money on something that works. Any suggestions for editing software?
NB. Windows Movie Maker seems to be cunningly designed to work really well the first time, then progressively get worse and worse. After reading some of the comments on the Web about this program, there are a lot of frustrated wannabe editors out there....
Rich.

Default Movie maker

Why not piff the whole lot into the bin and get yourself a Macintosh which comes with the excellent iMovie. You will ask yourself why you didn't do this years ago!
