Aussies die
It has been announced that another two Australian servicemen have been killed in Afghanistan overnight, one shot by one of the people supposed to be on our side. Makes you wonder why we are there.

If it were up to me, I'd be saying! everyone pack up cause you're all coming home and not going back. As a country we are way too soft.

Brave lads and gals all of them and my respects go to each and every one of them especially the families of the fallen.
My two main gripes....... we need our troops at home not in Afganistan and we spend way too much on Foreign aid when the need to rebuild Australia after the floods and other disasters is great!

I get up at that time and have a cup of coffee and my medication while I check up on my emails and regular forums. Once this is done I put my heavy combat jacket on along with gloves and a woolen hat (after all it is winter here)jump in my wheelchair and take Princess my assistance dog for a walk. Best time of the morning with almost no one around. After an hour I return home, feed my best friend and return to bed for a while.

Another Death
It has just been announced that another Aussie was killed in Afghanastan. No details given yet and the Military will make an official announcement shortly. Another wasted brave young man cut down in the prime of life. Our thoughts are with the familiy at this time. I fear another Vietnam type ending.

Aussie Helicopter crashed in Afganistan.
Very bad news of the friends down under: an Australian Army helicopter CH-47 crashed at Afganistan, at 31 of May, caused the loss of a soldier. More HERE.

Kostas, Thanks for that. We have lost that one and 3 others in the past 2 weeks. Not good, but they are doing their job well. Regards Rick

Our Fighting men..
June 6TH has come and gone again and I would like to post a poem I wrote.while sitting under a tree at a Gather up at Caldwells back in 2006..
Mike MacKinley read it out but I would like to post it here.. I was taken by the obituaries of our vets day after day.. This just rolled out of my head in the mater of an hour..I am not a poet ..but sing the odd sea shanty.. This poem was inspired by the sad daily obituaries of our Canadian veterans in every daily newspaper in Canada Lest We Forget T'was under the moon on the sixth of June, In nineteen fourty-four... The boys sailed out, In warships stout.. As so many had before. With rifle and shell, they stepped into hell... For freedom, they'd fight and die.... The French shore ran, with blood and gore.... As Hitler's Armies fell... No boys walked off that beach this day... But men,so brave and strong... Brothers now,by blood and death.. No man could part this bond. A year went by as they fought and died... To keep our country free... Not all came back, from days so black, As they died for you and me. The years have past as they fight their last, A battle they can not win..... We'll raise our glass,to those who pass... Sure God will let them in...... Valhalla calls, these brothers home, The torch they'll pass on yet... For freedom now,we'll honour them.. And say...... "Lest We Forget." "OUR VETS......!!!!!" Written by Alex Blair,June 2006.

Funeral
The funeral was held here in a suburb of Melbourne yesterday. A flight of three Kiowa helicopters flew directly over my house inbound for the funeral tribute.
ALEX: Brilliant and touching poem. Thanks for sharing it with us. Quote:
