Bren carrier wheels
Here in Nowra Australia I think I have found some old trolleys using bren gun carrier wheels.
I don't seem to be able to post pics from my computer to this thread for some reason. Are they worth saving from the local scrap dealers the rubber bonding is only fair due to age. about 12 wheels in total. Ron |

Re size your pictures to fit the forum.

Ron,
I am not a carrier guy but I do dabble in the WW2 or any era stuff from time to time. I have a convoluted logic when faced with such problems and I will explain if you like, I am not trying to lecture to anyone. 1 There will never be any more of those made 2 Someone will want some at some time in the future, eventually 3 If you can spare some cash buy them even if nothing more than to save them from being melted down. 4 If you have the space to hide them off the ground under a piece of plywood out doors then that is about as good as it will get at the least cost for storage, indoors under a roof is deluxe storage 5 write down what you paid for them so you know. 6 you will likely have your efforts rewarded in kind in another direction somewhere as you look for parts for your vehicles eventually, you are making a karma bank and possibly some cash as well. 7 if you don't save these why would expect someone else to save parts for the vehicle you are looking for parts for? 8 you meet some very interesting people around doing this and have a lot of fun in doing so. hope this helps

They could be British or Australian carrier wheels, there is a difference between the two at the width of the tyre and rim.

I will try again to post a picture when I am near my computer.
I am not 100 percent certain what they are , looking like bren wheels, but the spoke cross section is that of a H beam and the bearing is a plain bush with grease nipple. |

Yes, always. See Robin's point #1

You have to face the fact that if they are asking too much, then maybe they're not worth buying just on the off chance they'll be useful to someone someday.

They do have bearings inside the hub, but are enclosed with a steel cased oilseal. This might look at first glance to be a plain bearing.

I would suggest that if they are of no use to you, that you do exactly like you have done: post it here in case anyone has interest. As to buying them yourself on spec, or to help someone out in the future, unless you have lots of spare cash, and lots of storage space, that can be a very consuming endeavour. Don't ask me how I know this....

That's the wheel...…..grease nipple on the hub between the spokes. Do you want a contact number ????? |

Ron,
Good luck and hope my comments were not off putting and good luck. PS Rob Love has mountains of good gear in his sheds if you need anything else than wheels . . . .

Robin
Please do not feed the obsession. I currently have nine or ten storage sheds/buildings, and will be putting up a 4000 square foot steel span shed, hopefully this summer, to get some more vehicles under cover. My poor wife is going to have a lot to deal with when I go. |
