I have this plate and it’s a mystery . It shows a speaker for the set . It also shows 12 & 24 volts power sources and mention a No 190 switch box . Sexton , Sherman ? Thanks .

Robert,

It is for Sexton.

If it is surplus to your needs, the Sexton at the Base Borden Military Museum could use it.

Regards,

Colin

Hi Robert,

The Control Unit 190 is for the Sexton (and probably other models of) self-propelled gun.

The 24 volt supply is tapped at 12 volts and the WS19 was fed by both (the valve heaters and relay supply was from ground and +12, and the dynamotor was from +12 and +24 to distribute the load across the vehicle battery. Later supply units could use a 24V 2-wire or 3-wire supply.

It should be possible to reproduce the Control Unit 190 using any of the Control Unit 3x range and just rewiring the top switch to control the loudspeaker feed. (It might be extremely simple, though require taking the innards out of the box! I'm fairly certain that they were wired on a jig and the case was fitted later.)

I'll have a look at the wiring diagrams if I've got them.

Chris.
