Default CGT s/n 384403748 - at last

Our CGT is slowly getting together, and will be ready for the road in late spring/early summer.

But we need to make the canvas covering the bows on the roof of the body. Anyone having pictures and/or drawings with measurements?

And what are all the brackets for????
Above the drivers windshild there are something looking almost like a shelf, and there are two hooks in the roof right above the driver. What has been stored here? And in the botom of the doorsteps for the body, what was stored there? Anyone having stowage diagrams or good pictures of interior of these beasts?

Rolf

Hi Rolf
The shelf over the drivers seat windshield is for the artillery board. It is a big piece of plywood in a canvas bag. It has a place to put your map or overlay for plotting your gun. One end of the board fits in that little shelf and the rest is held up by those other hooks you refer to. It takes up a lot of room over the drivers head but back then everyone was shorter anyway. I can't put pictures on here but I could take a photo of mine and send it to you if you like. If you ever get to Dirk Leegwaters place he has one. If you need one we could probably get one for you and bring it to Holland the next time I get my air miles high enough.

Default 7B2

Phil the body is a 7B2 type body, but it should have been "a" body and not "the" body.

The body put on it has the plate reading: "4408 7B2 2640"
I have another body here where the
plate states: "4408 7B2 2474"

Mybe someone is able to tell what serial number on the body would go best with a chassis serial 384403748 under order no. LV 1798 and date of MFG Apr. 7-44

Mark I will send you a nice picture when it is finnished as a Gun Tractor of 'D' Troop, 28th Canadian Field Battery, R.C.A., 5th Canadian Field Regiment, R.C.A. 2nd Canadian Infantry Division

Rolf,

Looking good - great job! You were lucky to find a 7B2 body for your FAT chassis.

Will you be driving it down to Beltring this year?

Cheers,
Hanno

Default Hei Hanno

I don't think I will be at Beltring.
I have to much to spend my money on at the time. I am dreaming of a new house, so I just have to save were I can.
But next Year, at Normandy, is well worth spending a hole lot of money on.....

Keeping track of CMPs on MLU: it seems Rolf's CGT has migrated down to the UK.

See Use of CMP Field Gun Tractors by British Field Regiments in WW2 on HMVF, current owner Rick Overy (kosbie) is on this forum too.

Default Cgt ch-4244956

This came up in another conversation, here are some more pics of when Rolf Ask was the co-owner of this CGT. He sold it 10 years ago to Rick Overy in the UK.

Incidentally, Walde Libera's CGT has the same census number CH-4244956!
