Default For sale: T16, NY, USA

Thanks to herr-pear, an ad scanned from the October issue of "Military Vehicles" magazine.

Text of ad reads: "T-16 Universal Carrier, hull & drive train, Ford V-8 flathead, $3,600. M. Kulak 631-277-7255 N.Y."

Default ...But ...

Hanno,

Sure that T-16 in NY 'looks' like crap - but look real close ...

Look at the position of the bogie springs- is this an elusive T16E2, MkII??

Without the armour it is hard to say.

Who is near there and can get some more pix to clear this up??

Stewart

PS - to all of you guys who do not subscribe to Supply Line - it comes with a sister publication - Army Motors. This month is Canada month, I guess. 7 pages of T-16 and other Carriers, and a photo spread of Lonre Ertl's newest project - a rare C8A.
( Jon Skagfeld man know of this fellows meticulus restoration work ).

Then 2 pages of trailer restoration by a Canadian guy, followed by a review of a CD of Canadian Vehicle Markings of WW2, finally one of Dirk Leegwaters CMP trucks graces the inner back cover.

I used to think that this was just a jeep resto mag, but there are lots of CMP and other Canadian content. If you can read, you'll enjoy it!

Sharp eye, Stewart! It could be the rear bogies were reversed, but the gap between the front bogie and idler seems to be somewhat larger than normal - compare with the Argentine survivor which also looks like a T16E2.

Yes, someone needs to go there and measure up this piece of crap - it could turn out to be a gold nugget!

Default T-16E-2, Mk.II

Stewart,
I believe you are right! The distance between my front Idler and first road wheel is only 8 inches! The one in the photo has a much larger gap than that. I guess someone needs to go look at it and measure the length of the body as well. Could it possibly still have a data plate? Nice find, but what a job to restore!!

Default Sold.

That T-16 ( or whats left of it ) sold for US$1,913.88 to a lucky fellow by the handle of stephent4890.

Hopefully he can do something with this vehicle.

I wish him luck.
