Default 1942 Austin K2Y Ambulance

In the current issue of Vintage Trucks and Commercials magazine there is an article about the restoration of a 1942 K2Y ambulance.

Hi Scott,
That is the one from WA, there is another K2/Y that has just been restored in NSW and has recently attended shows in the Sydney area, it will be attending the Corowa Swim-In in March.

cheers Richard

A nice pic of post-war use of a Austin K2/Y with Commonwealth C reg. plate. Pic was found in the NAA system . No location given but looks like Sth. Aust. again.

Default austin Ambulance

Hi Mike
good pic, at a quick glance it appears to be a 1945 model,
over for the Atomic tests, Woomera
I will have a better look.

rego C-58849

ch.no 76098, WD No.A5850998 contract S.8543, is the only one i know of in Australia.
Although to be fair the WD Nos for this contract are not known,
But this would have been the WD no. allotted under contract S.3165 which had originally covered these ch.nos, but was cut short.

Looks like the Austin is on the atomic test site, with the gantry in the background visible, that I have seen in other photos.
