Here's a few snaps I took during our visit.

Default No problem Karmen

Could have been me as I was attempting an edit before aborting the idea and submitting a new post. Geoff's correct, and am I correct in saying an M3 halftrack? M5's and 9's have rounded rear corners yeah?

Cool! Thanks Geoff.
Bugger, should have been there.

Default names

I'll do the front row
Robert.. Keith.. me... Ben and Mark who are the Gruber brothers and they also drove our carrier for the day
I managed to catchup with a couple MLU and put faces to names, and it was nice to meet Rod who came all the way from WA. I enjoyed my walk around the caravan park catching up with old friends and having many cuppa's with them on the way.

I caught a glimpse of you selling someone a CD on Saturday at the airport, but by the time I got back to that location you had gone. :-(

Default Thursday run

Maurice, a local farmer kindly allowed access to his property and had laid out a 6km track along the banks of the Murray River for all to enjoy. Here's a link to the page.

The armour sets out.

Our escort Land-Rover (in which soundman Brian Laurence and I were passengers) decided to pull the Stuarts up with a rather brisk stop. The look of incredulity was surely mirrored by me... but not Brian who wound up in a tangled heap of expensive equipment towards the front of the vehicle as he had nothing to grab hold of other than the mic and mixer.

This is how close the stop was. The worst of it was I'd been taking stills and missed it on video.

A S.E.G. from Pedr.

I can't explain why Rick Sheerman's hindquarters are attracting such rapt attention from the crew of this carrier.

Machine gunner's view of a carrier.

Lang Kidby's beautiful Dodge Carryall in equally beautiful surroundings.

More here.

Many thanks, Bruce!

Unfortunately I can't use anything either with commercial music or indeed anything which has been edited, but if you'd like to send me some of your raw footage on DVD it would me much appreciated. Did you do any interviews?

Well done Tony, Mrs.Cove is really known simply as 'Jill'. Thanks for naming all those in the photo as I missed a couple of them myself. It was great to meet and catch up with those, who until then had just been a name on the computer screen.

Default Carbon Neutral??

Not sure if these were the cheapest vehicles to run for the weekend, but entertaining nevertheless. And echoing everyone else, what a fantastic weekend (even if mildly warm). Can't wait until next year!!

Thumbs up

Hi All - as you know Ada & I didn't get to Corowa this year for more reasons than you can poke a stick at. However the quality and number of images posted in this thread and my memory cells makes me almost feel I was there. I think this year has been the best ever, almost immediate, coverage of the week on MLU. Well done all, especially Plushy and Doug.

Terrific photos...
Well I was on my way to Corowa this year, but never got there. I had a 6-day weekend arranged, and had flown out from Brisbane to Dubbo, intending to be picked up on the way through by a mate of mine hauling some jeep bodies, chassis and motors down to Corowa.

It was only after I arrived at Dubbo airport I got a distressed and apologetic call that his Land Rover Disco had blown a head gasket outside of Coonabarabran. Thus ended my hopes to get there. Sorry to the people I had arranged to meet, it was out of my control.

However all was not lost for my trip. We managed to salvage a few days and go recover something that I'm sure folks on this Board will be quite interested to hear about - more to come when I prepare some information about it.

Steve.

Hi Doug

Great report,

But to quote a segment:

Quote:
Wheeled armour consisted of:

1 x M8 Greyhound
3 x Ferrets (2 x UK, 1 x Oz)

Remarkable by their complete absence were M3 White Scout Cars, Dingos and Lynxs.
There was one White AOP Scout Car there:

G'day All, Absolutley great pix and text, thanks to all those people who took the time to post them. I love the video clip done by Bruce M. One thing that I had noticed in some pix is the lack of people in the town, from my past experiences of the parade the town was chocka with the good citizens of Corowa and all the enthusiasts, it is only in some of the later pix showing a 'White Scout car' that I saw any people at all, anyway great stuff cheers Dennis

Ah yes, thanks for that. I do recall seeing the White, just once as it chucked a lap of the airport and was busy at the time, so it didn't get retained by the memory cells. ;-)

I have corrected that comment.

Nice to see that someone has kept it as an AOP, so far all the owners I have struck have been in a great rush to chop the top off and return them to original US configuration.

Default Just like being there

So many pics , just like being there . MLU ers shoot and snap anything in sight . I heard the weather forecast and decided to give it a miss . I had gone through a previous distressing experience of Corowa in 1983 .. bloody hot it was and the Fordson WOT2 motor boiled on the way up. A mobile sauna bath it was .The supermarket would have been a popular spot this year ... nice and cool .

The yellow White OP scout car: restored by John Mackie of Hilston NSW ( it was at the 2007 event ).

Possibly they could hold the event a week or two later, but the heat wave thing is relatively rare in March and the organisers were unlucky it turned out that way. Mother nature again had her say .

I've also noted the lack of local population turning out to watch the parade over the years .... Probably , In their eyes , I guess one green machine looks like another .

There were quite a few throngs of enthusiastic viewers:

Even Her Maj popped in for a gander.

There was a salute too.

Heaps more pics here and here, the pics this time courtesy of my wife Belinda who made her first appearance.
