Default Flimsy fuel can flex hoses/spouts 19 sets ect

I picked up a couple of the "horse Co*ks" for the square flimsy fuel cans.
Asking $50 each plus shipping...there is a little surface rust on them..but it can be cleaned off..if you need photos send me a PM with your emaiil address.
I also have a few of the mounting bars for the 19 Sets and some mounting straps, both lengths...and a few ariel cone shaped mounts...can't make it to any shows until June and my storage space is full..so I am offering them here

DO you have any of the #3 mounting straps for the WS19.

Ive got a #1 and #2 strap but can't use the #2 in my application. The PSU needs to go on top of the A/B set.

Dean, I'm interested in any of the antenna bases and straps or mounts that are required to mount the 19 set in a CMP, but I'm not sure exactly which are required. I, and probably some other MLU members are floundering around ebay looking for mounting straps and brackets but aren't sure of exactly which parts we need. I recently purchased a poorly described bracket off ebay in the hopes it would be one of the parts I need. It's a "MOUNTINGS CARRIERS No. 1 ZA 10316" and I as of yet haven't figured out what it's use is. Does anyone have a list and/or diagram of the bits and pieces required to mount the 19 set? In the mean time, I'd appreciate if you would email me pics of what you have Dean. Thanks. sapper740@grandecom.net

Hi Derek,

What kind and size of CMP do you need it for?

As to your carrier please confirm whether it's a ZA10316 or ZA10315.

sapper740, I sent you an email last night, I will get some photos to you in the next day or two, I picked up some more of the straps and more of the "mount carriers" yesterday..along with more ariel mounting bit...gotta sort them out and dig out the other bits I have for the 19 Sets that are in storage right now.
Too be honest, I know very little about these radios, I was just lucky enough to find the mounting parts on my travels

Here's some pix Dean sent me so I downsized and posted them. Now we can all figure out just what he has. One thing for sure there's lots of mounting brackets.
Just which brackets and straps would be needed to mount the set in a CMP? As for the aerial mounts, which type of aerial would the cones be for? I assume the cones and 6 holed plates go together.

Sadly I don't know the length of the #3 fixing strap. However it would be longer then the #2 fixing strap (10.5") but not as long as the really long ones. Does that make sense

Or if you don't have any, I would gladly take one of the long ones.

Dean, could you post a pic of the flexi spouts for all of us to share please?

The single item of its type, in the center of the first photo, is a Number 19 Wireless Set mount for a Variometer. The rings with six holes are usually made of wood but I've heard there was also a rubber pattern. It is used as an insulator for the cone shaped aerial mount which is used for the Number 19 Wireless A-Set. The B-Set aerial mount is usually about 4" tall and 1.5" diameter rubber and the aerial itself is about 2.5' long being for short range formation transmissions. The rubber part would mount onto a short pipe looking thing. Don't you just love technical jargon

Looks like the short and long straps are the lengths used for power supply and transceiver to each fasten down to the mounting plates when side by side. The middle size strap used for the PS/U to attach to the top of the transceiver has thus far also eluded me. I built one following a tip from another forum member, by lengthening a spare short strap. So there are at least three of us needing the medium size for our wireless sets.

HI David

What did you use to lengthen the short strap. I was thinking some kind of tow strap material would work?

Hey Jordan,

I used a piece of material from a ratchet type tie down strap which was roughly 3" wide and a close match in size to the normal WWII straps. Since the originals are pretty tough, I hammer riveted the straps together as it would have been difficult to sew and won't be visible. Just make sure the two places you have to join up are past the metal angle brackets that hold the PS/U and then they won't be in the way of anything.

I'm posting another one for Dean. This looks too small for a horse cock, maybe a donkey dink? but it does look like it'd be a spout for the cans.

I'm not sure on the scale of these pix so maybe somebody can clue me in. Are those mounts the length of the 19 set with or without the power supply when they're mounted side by side? To mount the set and power supply side by side will I need more than the two mounts and how many straps?

Hi Bruce, the part is stamped ZA10316.
My CMP is licensed as a 1942 C15. It has the 13 cab, modified to Left-hand drive, and the frame was lengthened to give it a wheel base of 135 1/2". It had no box when I bought it but was told it was originally a Wireless van. Who knows?

Default Thanks Dean,

It seems the spout screws on to the threaded outlet.

It must have been slow to empty when you compare the CMP and UC funnels, which allow a can to be up-ended to drain.

Have you found any stampings like a broad arrow?

cheers
Rob

These horsecocks will also attach to the threaded spout on the bottom of the funnels.

Default Radio Straps...... replacement

I have a small quantity of 2.5 inch green webbing..... each about 40 inches in length. They are not the thickest webbing but might have the right look.
If interested..... small contribution to MLU will get you some.

I still have a few straps of differant lengths..I also just picked up a couple of 19 sets..and hardest of all to find a WW2 Canadian made and marked wooden 19 set radio tray with all the hardwear including the strap handles on each end with the wooden grips..I have never seen one of those before..and in near mint shape..contact me at northman@rogers.com and we can work something..
However I will have to ask for payment BEFORE I ship an item out to you...I sent out a few items to some others onlly to find out they cannot pay for sometime..if ever!!

Sorry about this..it took me by surprise.

Okay, here goes:

Pic No.1 (laid out on the floor)

The mounting brackets (with the rubber shock mounts) are used in pairs to
fit a (demountable) WS19 into a truck - they're part of the "Truck and
Ground Station" outfit, and require the set to be mounted on Carrier No.3 (23)
- the wooden board type - or the later No.25 - steel with a strap that goes
all the way around set and supply unit.

Top left of picture: Aerial Base No.8, Mounting No.3 - a spacer that fits under
the aerial base to allow clearance for the connector plate (if used) and to
center the feeder cable in the cut-out part of the mounting (or vehicle skin)
to aboid wear/short circuits. These exist in wood (with cork gaskets), rubber,
and (post WW2 steel (need rubber gaskets to seal the vehicle).

Top middle: Aerial Base No.8 - Standard base for the 'A' set, uses the 4-ft
"Aerial Rods, F" (no 1, 2 & 3) to make various lengths of whip antenna.

Centre of picture: "Plates, Seating, No.4" this is part of the Truck and
Ground station. It fits to the left hand side of the power supply unit and
holds the variometer. It also has a _rigid_ paxolin/tufnol aerial mounting
permanently connected to the variometer by means of a copper strap.
It takes 'F' rods when used as a ground station, or an aerial feeder (No.9?)
cable that connects to a Base No.8 for use in the vehicle.

Right hand side: loads of mounting straps for the WS19 carriers. Short ones
for the supply unit, long ones for the set. These are for Carriers No.1 (21)
or 3 (23).

------------

Pic No.2 (the ammo box)

Aerial bases, clamping straps, an operators lamp, and a load of little boxes that could contain anything! (Probably lamps, clips and small parts.

Hope this is some help.

I don't know the CMP, but if the set is fitted permanently, you need Carrier No.1
(or 21 which is the later painted version), or if it's a demountable setup, the
wooden board Carrier No.3 (or 23).

Chris.

I'd be very tempted by the mounting board, but suspect postage to England would
be prohibitive. 8-(>

If you send me photographs of the bits you've got, I'll do my best to identify
them and tell you what they're used for. (WS19 parts only, though!)

Best,
Chris.

Chris, I've been looking at my 19 set stuff and can't quite figure it out. I can see how the short strap will hold down the power supply but the holes on the set are made for the strap to pull the other way. My variometer looks like it just attaches to the power supply box.
Do you have any pix of the mounting board? It must be a few inches wider than the set by the looks of things It looks like it will just hook into the one end of the mounts and the spring loaded clips will hold on the other end. It'd be nice to get some measurements for the board.
There's a NOS 19 set on ebay now.19 set
The first pic I've posted is my stuff and the others are the ebay stuff.

The case for the A/B set is on upside down. The top side should have two plates on it with 6 tapped holes.

Default A/B set protective cage

I suspect that if the cage is turned 180 degrees, as Jordan suggests, that the bars will more or less fall between the knobs instead of in front of them.

Hi,

Okay.... your set is upside down in the case. (The narrow part of the keyhole
slots should be at the bottom, and there are two attachment plates on the top
of the case at the left hand side (for various different installations).)

Carriers.

There are three "standard" varieties from WW2, they were renumbered later.

Carrier, Set. No.1 ZA.3102 - welded steel channel for permanent fitting
to vehicles. This is the standard AFV/truck/jeep mount and fairly common.
The power supply is mounted on the left of the set, and the variometer
fitted where suitable (top or side of of the supply unit, or a "through the
side/turret roof" mounting for AFVs.

Carrier, Set, No.2 ZA.3103 - shorter steel channel mount for set only in
limited space situations. The supply unit goes either on its side on top of
the set (Universal Carrier) or elsewhere in the vehicle (Sexton SPG, I think).

Carrier, Set, No.3 ZA.10315 - wooden board "Truck & Ground Station"
mounting for a complete station (Control Unit No.3, Variometer, Supply
Unit, and set).

Carriers 1&2 are bolted down using the rubber "bridge" shock absorbers, and
are permanently fitted to the vehicle.

Carrier No.3 clips in to the "Mountings, Carrier" (one at each end) and
the screw is tightened to hold the clips in place - the mounting includes
the shock absorbers (2 per mount) and is permanently bolted down.

I only have Carrier No.1, I'm after No 2 and No.3.

Best,
Chris.

Pics of the end of Carrier No.1 attached (I hope). The steel angle brackets
can be removed to replace the straps, and the holes line up with the
tapped holes in the set top so they can also be used to fit the supply unit
on that if you're using Casrrier No.2. The holes in the end of the channel
are for the single bolt on the shock absorber. C1b shows it with the angle
plates removed.

I also found a few unused RED tubes used in the 19 set...a couple are still in their dated WW2 Cardboard boxes. Marked with the C Broad Arrow, both the box and the tubes.

Something else about the straps...a couple of the straps I have are in a black colour they are a pair of the long strap and the short strap..so it looks like they came off the same unit...Anyone ever seen black straps for 19 sets before??
