Default US Tent

Hey All

Anyone know where I can get some poles for this tent, I found it in an "antique" store here in BC and I think I got it for a great price, the ropes were attached and the only thing missing is the poles.

Default poles

In the past ... I have seen barrels of Pup Tent poles in surplus stores. They are about 12" sections of hardwood dowel, with an aluminum (or steel?) female collar and every 4th or 5th has about a 2" pokey spike.

Gary-What you've got is the U.S. mountain tent. It looks in great shape. Go on ebay, the poles come up from time to time.

Default Tent

Hey John

Thanks, it is in incredible shape, I am a little surprised at the excellent condition it is in, I have reversed it to check out the liner/winter outer and it also it looks great. I will keep an eye on ebay for any poles for it.

Not wanting to rain on your parade, but could it be a repro? So much stuff gets reproduced these days for re-enactment and movies.

Your best bet is go to the web site for Mountain Gear Surplus. They have every imaginable tent for sale and they have poles.

Default Repro

Hey Hanno

I understand that there are many copies out there, however the tent has that distinctive "old" smell, the same smell that hits you as soon as you walk into a quality surplus store that has all kinds of neat and cool military items.

Thanks for that info wpns, I will definitly check them out.
