Default Close call.

My brother and I were threshing about 15 miles from his yard today and in the afternoon we saw some smoke billowing up in that general direction. It looked like it wasn't coming from his yard so we went on with our work.
When we went over to his yard later on an old Dakota that had been parked right by the shop was pulled out into the yard and burnt to a crisp. The shingles on the bottom several feet of the quonset roof were melted off but the underlying plywood was unhurt.
It seems a neighbour noticed the truck on fire and phoned the volunteer fire dept 15 miles away. They showed up in time to save the building and contents.
Among the contents is my C8 wireless! Talk about luck!

Default Where there is smoke...

When I was a kid in Craik Saskatchewan we came out of church and a few people looked out and saw some smoke some miles away, next town i heard people say Girven(?) i think was out that way. driving back to the farm mom started driving a little faster, a little faster then faster than we had ever driven. drove up to the house and the only thing left standing was the fridge. Fire didn't spread. Still had a casserole dish that mom found in the fridge until we broke it only a few years ago. About 1962 I recall
Glad you only had a close call.
