17 pdrs
John,
Not sure if you posted those great photos just for interest's sake or if there was a request somewhere that I didn't see ? As I'm sure you know there are additional 17pdrs to be found at the Cdn. War Museum in Ottawa (2 there, one restored and one not), one at the Brantford Ontario Military Museum that was complete down to the optics and the canvas muzzle covers when I last saw it three years ago, one outside of the Oakville (or Burlington, I always mix up the those two) Canadian Legion Hall and finally, one outside on display in a cemetary here in Toronto (along with a 25 pdr and a 40mm Bofors). If needed, I could provide photos over the next few months.

This pieces looks to be in pretty good nick however someone should think about splashing on a little bit of preservative to protect it from the dreaded 'Mr Rust'.

Brome County Museum
Although I have never visited this little museum, it is on my list of places to go see. They have had some good luck with their acquisitions. Apparently, indoors they have a WWI Albatross with its original skin. And, they sort of cut the grass at the Battle of Eccles Hill monument. That commemorates the last time the US tried to invade Canada, and the locals successfully beat them back. It looked a little rustic last summer when I visited.

st Jean 17pdrs
I believe the 2 17pdrs at St Jean are brit models. There is a 17 pdr here in windsor as well...it is awaiting some restoration before being placed outside the armouries. There is also one in a private collection in Southern Ontario.

One more 17 pdr in B.C.
Quote:
For decades there has been a 17pdr outside the Surrey, B.C. Municipal Archives building near Highway 10 and 172nd. However, I've heard rumours that it is no longer there. Any B.C. members able to shine further light on it? Derek
