Default Kurdish 25 pounder

I was watching CNN the other day and they did a piece on the Kurds use of a 41 dated 25 pounder in action on the front lines , no muzzle break on the gun and that they were running low on rounds,

Even in todays modern world the 25pdr is a formidable weapon.
As far as running low on rounds, I would expect mil-surp to be drying up since WW2.
I believe India was or is one of the last armies that still use the 25pdr.

Ireland retired it's 25 pdrs back around 2003. I think I read they maintain a ceremonial battery of 6. They were nice enough to ship us approx a ton of spare parts from their inventory.

While the smaller calibers like 25 pounder and 105 may be somewhat formiddable in the places the kurds fight at, in the modern battlefield there is very little place for anything below 155. They just don't have the range to participate in an exchange of fire. We pretty much have relegated them to ceremonial and training as well as knocking the snowbanks off the mountains (avalanche control).

The Pakistani Army still use the 25 pdr and as far as I am aware still produce ammunition so I'm guessing this is the source for the Kurds !

The Netherlands Army still has a number of them on strength for ceremonial duties, firing blanks.
