Default FORD Blitz plate numbers

Can anyone tell me what this plate is and if the numbers mean anything? The plate is on the rear cab wall below the rear window. The round plate has 290 81 4136 stamped in it and above it stamped on the cab is 471.

Thanks

It is a Ford Australia bulid tag for the cab bodywork. If you look closer at the plate, the first number will read 29Q, this is the Ford model number for a 13 Cab Blitz.

81 is not known, but it could relate to the engine arrangement, although CMPs (Blitzes had 99A engines, but were fitted with C81T heads from the 81 model truck engine).

4136 is the unique serial number for the cab assembly (not the whole truck's serial number)

Is this Sunshine Cab F15A still owned by Tim Berry?

I was lucky enough to have been given the opportunity to buy the blitz from Tim. It only arrived a couple of days ago.

Thanks for the info, do you know anything about the holes in the rear drivers side cab. I assume they are for a fire extinguisher. Was this bracket a war time thing? Were they fitted only to vehicles that did a particular job?

I also have three holes above it on both sides?

Thanks
Darren

Default FORD F15 seats

I have been told that changing gears would be much easier if I had thicker seats and I could "get on top of the pedals". Does anyone know what the original thickness of the seats would have been so I can get some made up! Does anyone have a photo of original seat cushions? I have attached a photo of another MLU members seats.

Thanks
Darren

Hey Derwood,
That is one nice Blitz, for a Fraud, sorry I ment Ford.
I have an original D^D seat base.
It has springs in it and is real comfortable.
I will bring it to the meeting tomorrow night and you can try it for a while.
The seat in the photo looks a little small.
See you tomorrow night.
Cheers
Jeff

I didn't have any springs so my seats are 4" of high density foam and are reasonably comfortable, as can be seen in the borrowed photo I didn't get the backs made long enough and the cushon moves about a bit while i'm getting in and out.
I hope you get as much enjoyment out of your blitz as I get out of mine, they are great for holding up trafic.

Default Blast From The Past

Hi Darren - your truck contains an instrument panel and housing I did for Tim in October 2003. Is it holding up ok?

Default Blitz seat

Thanks for the info. Jeff has leant me an original spring loaded seat. I will make some inquiries about getting a couple made up. Thanks to hrpearce for the borrowed photo!

Bob - the dash is going well. Because of my seat problem I haven't had it going fast enough to confirm the speedo is working at high speeds!!! I will PM you in regards to a dash for the carrier.

Darren

Default Check carefully.....

When you take out your Chev.... if the speedometre does not go up to the peg around 100 mph....either the speedometre is defective and send it back to Bob........or your Chev engine needs a tune up......

Careful not to break the sound barrier !!!!!!

Default Re. Check Carefully

Hey Boobee - if you check Darren's vehicle list you will see an F15A, no Chevrolets in sight. Besides which all my panels have a lifetime guarantee.

Hi Darren - if you contact Richard Coutts-Smith he has/had access to a guy who made beautiful seat covers. I had a pair made and they were brilliant.
